this old chestnut again.
joined 21st january 2003, so you've been here 2 years and managed to miss the thousands of bi-weekly threads on this?
I seriously think some people either just want spoon feeding or walk around with their eyes shut.
try
www.electromancer.com
although if it's reviews you're after, don't hold your breath at that site.

or get hosting from www.audioshot.com and be able to link people to your music and any type of site you want to have, without the annoying music promo crap of most of these iuma/mp3c/whatnot spawns.

What do you mean slowed down? Do you mean in speed or in interaction?
On January 1st we'll officially relaunch a new corporate site, and a new site called Music where people can go and stream tracks for free without signing up or logging in or anything. The music featured on this site will come from anyone who's paid for our premium membership (so far around 3k tracks), and then by march (most likely) the entire sectionz.com website will be redesigned to a much cooler style more similar to these others sites.
The records site is finished now so you can check that out if you're interested in taking a peek at whats comming up
http://www.sectionzrecords.com
Anyway, you or anyone else should feel free to post on the forums, or even shoot me a mail and talk about the site or give suggestions.

the only thing with electromancer, is you can't link directly to your tunes, just the page.
although electromancer is ad-free and independant still.
as a FREE, INDEPENDANT host site, i think the guy deserves support.
i'd hate to see yet another site die to the multiconglomerates due to lack of support.

I think possibly that this sluggish internet bug has hit your site - for him at least.smart wrote:What do you mean slowed down? Do you mean in speed or in interaction?
Seems that over the past few days, one site a day that I visit is getting this slow-to-a-crawl syndrome.
Couple of days ago, it was Yahoo mail - so slow I couldn't access it.
Yesterday it was The Hunger Site that was crawling along and inaccessible.
A few days ago, it was somewhere else etc etc (most days it's KvR, but that's a different story
It'll be fine tomorrow - assuming anything's wrong in the first place - one just has to be patient.
Don't know what it's all about, but I have been noticing this weird thing happening.
This guy probably has just encountered it and rather than rebooting or just waiting to see if it's ok tomorrow...

You talkin to me?smart wrote:What do you think of the new design btw?
Are you talkin to me??
Well, I've never been a member of sectionz personally.
To be honest, I found it a nightmare to navigate.
Even looking now, I can't find any artist other than Deadmau5.
I had music of my own playing. The music from your site interfered with that. That alone would put me off. Yes, I see the on/off button - maybe the default should be off.
Especially as, when you're navigating around, the tune stops dead in it's tracks and another one loads for each page. Bad enough having music there, but once I'd turned my own music off to have a listen, I was pretty miffed when the track suddenly stopped as I clicked on a link.
I also hate the bleepy noises you're using as roll-overs.
They not only interfere with the music on your site, they also interfere with my music when I got fed up with just listening to half-tracks and went back to my own music.
Unfortunately I had to physically kill your on-site music everytime I turned a page. This will actively prevent me from going there.
I can see a lot of work's gone into it, but as I say, I still can't find any artists pages and the music thing and bleepy noises are, imho, a really bad decision.
Hope you're not offended - just speaking as I find.
[edit]btw - it wasn't running slow for me.[/edit]

thanks for the comments
Well, on the Music site that's almost finished, as well as our corporate site the music loads but doesn't play - we set it up to play on the records site so people could hear a taste of deadmau5. The reason you can only find deadmau5 on that records site is because he's the only artist we've signed
when you go to our music site which is very similar, you'll be able to easily search for music by genre, moods, artist, bpm, whatever - we've built a pretty cool search into the site and it works well.
As far as sectionz being a nightmare to navigate - yeah, we know
It's why we're doing all this redesigning and everything. Hopefully we can get it right so you guys will join. It's going to be very different this time. It'll focus on music only and not projects, with but better artist pages, and a lot better navigation. Anyway, here's hoping you guys'll like it

ok, I just talked to Josh about this, and we agreed it's a good idea to let you guys check the Music site out. Hopefully the more feedback the better!
http://www.sectionzmusic.com
Anyone who's interested in checking it out please let us know if you find any broken links, bugs, or whatever. It's really shaping up fast so we're probably going to launch this site officially on Christmas as a little present for all our artists, as well as anyone else who likes to check out some tunes
No signups or anything - enjoy
hint: if you click on "detach player" when you're checking out a track, the streaming flash player will open in a new window so you can browse without the track stopping.
