perc adv 2 syncing better than stormdrum?

i tried the demos for these two on the soundsonline demo disk. the percussive adventures loops synced right up and dropped right in over other loops i have without any trouble. however, the loops from stormdrum/stormbreakz were not syncing up to anything.

am i doing something wrong, or has the loop sync programming work already been done on percussive adventures 2, but not on stormdrum? im not all that familiar with getting things to sync properly in intakt since the only intakt library i've got is the operating table...which syncs automatically without any additional work and is very nicely pre-sliced.

i've been thinking of taking advantage of the soundsonline holliday sale since i've been itching for a new drum/percussion collection. stormdrum seems cool since it comes with a ton of individual hits, in addition to the loops. but if the loops dont sync well out of the box, then i probably wont get as much use out of 1/2 the collection.

conversely, if everything in perc adv 2 comes ready to sync then that might be the way to go for me because it will be easier to drop the loops into tracks.

any opinions or suggestions on this?

thanks,

I did a full review over at Trax. From my experience with working with it in Cubase SX 2.2.0, it synced up fine for me. :? Maybe a version problem with the version of Intakt you're using?

BTW - the individual hits are AWESOME. The one thing I thought I wouldn't like, the standard drum kits, are some of the best I've heard.

its strange...if i put it into sampler mode and have it recalculate the sync settings i can get it to lock in but the pitch changes. in beat mode, it just continues with whatever was set in sampler mode. neither mode will re-sync if i change the tempo. i have to go back and to the whole sampler recalculate thing again. the sync switch is on, and the sync menu has auto sync turned on, but its just not doing it. time machine mode works but it sounds very granular.

with the operating table, i can change the tempo to my hearts content in beat mode and it locks in perfectly without my having to touch a thing.

whats more bizarre is that, with the same intakt player demo that im testing out the stormdrum presets in, if i load up the per adv 2 presets instead...everything works fine. beat mode resyncs with tempo changes just like time machine does. it works just like the operating table does.

also, i swear the time machine sounds much better too on the perc adv 2 presets than on the stormdrum ones. its less digital and grainy, even with the same quality setting (medium.) i guess that part can be attributed to one sample being better suited for the granular technique than others, but it just adds to the weirdness of the situation to me.

i really just dont get whats going on here. i keep thinking i must be doing something wrong...but when i use the operating table, i dont have to do anything at all...and it works great.

Very weird. The one thing that I really did like about the Intakt engine with Storm Drums was I could change the BPM while it was playing, and it introduced no pops/clicks, which I thought was amazing. I could usually go quite a few BPM up or down, and its clarity still remained. Of course, push it too far, and you could tell, but still sounded pretty good, even at half or double, depending on the loop.

Either way, no syncing problems here from my noodling with it. Try contacting EastWest, see if they have any insite to the problem. :?

i agree, i love the operating table handles different bpm's and i expected the rest of the libraries would work just as well. i just dont get what the problem is here. especially when other patches (per adv 2) within the same demo program work fine.

yeah, good point. i'll see what they say. im really interested in the stormdrum too, provided i can get it to work as well as OP does.
