Any apps out there ... that can detect silence in a long wav and slice the wav file to snippets ...

picture a drum sample cd, with long audio tracks of one shot hits separated by short silences, and i want to batch slice audio tracks into wavs of the one shots cutting at the silence beginnings?

i remember i used something called waveknife to do that years ago, but it doesn't seem to work on xp..

any suggestions ?

thanks

Try out Waveknife, it's made especially for this task and won't cost you a penny:

I'm afraid it'll only work with one track at once though.
Alternatively, depending on what you use, your sequencer might do the job as well.
In Logic for instance you could use "strip silence" and then "convert regions into individual audiofile", I believe Cubase can do similar things using hitpoints.
There are 3 kinds of people:
Those who can do maths and those who can't.
