i always find it very good to say something in a piece
than again music itself is a message
how about you - ever put a message in your music ?

no. The only message in my music is along the lines of "yes I know it's not perfect, I'm still learning".

It all depends on authors intention, I guess ? Can't really generalize - it's such a broad question.

intention is important - but the reason i left it out
is because the question is do you think music should be a valuable experience or simply entertainment.

No it isn't, he's asking for your opinion. My opinion is yes and no. I rarely pay any attention to the lyrics of music I am listening to but I feel that if I am going to write lyrics they should impart something useful. i.e. You will never hear a NOVAkILL song with "la-la" or "na-na" or "shoop-shoop" in it, although you may hear skreaming.

I think you'd be extremely limiting yourself if you intended a message that can be easily summed up in words for every piece. I think all music has a message, often an abstract one that can't be described... Maybe I'm splitting hairs now

and even - the tone in which i read it could be a sarcastic tone ...like pontius pilatus in jesus christ superstar - the message is "jesus christ is king of the jews" but the way he says it implies the opposite.
i think people often underestimate the power of a song than again many people overestimate it to. anyway after seeing a thousand elections be won with a carefully selected sound track (don`t stop thinking about tommorow)i`m convinced music as simply entertainment is
just like a wonderfull golden fountain pen in the hand of someone who can`t write or read. nice but a bit like drinking a galon of beer not for the taste but with the intention to get drunk. nothing wrong with it but not my style
