Hi,
I am looking for a HW synth to bring musical ideas and melodies to life.
VSTI's do have some use in my home but its not for "creating" per se.
My influnences are progressive, ambient, vangelis, pink floyd stuff, industrial and film scores.
In your opinion, which of these beasts would fit this category ?
I am looking for ease of use (a la Juno 106)and "mojo".
Are there any showtstoppers in any of theses synths ?
I heard that the clicking issues with Novation are sorted out but I also heard that the company is discontinuing the product.
The MS2000B still has timing issues afaik(not that it would affect me anyways...).
Please let me know if you have had bad exp's with any of these.
Thanks

I mean I havent created a lot of music with VSTI's after a few years. Its just me.
The VSTI's sound absolutely fabulous but it doesnt make me "horny". They are usefull after the initial idea has been laid out..
I recently realised that I could pull out 10X more melodies out of my Juno 106 that I ever did with any VSTI's. Maybe I like to stand up !
I guess I need to "really" understant how to make templates for my Radium controller to control my VSTI's.
I did buy a trackball today that may make my VSTI experience more enjoyable.

think he means interfaceing with his vsts isnt the same as interfaceing with a hwsynth.as he says himself he needs to rig up his controller more than anything.
if you have the sounds already, why bpay money for a new synth when all you need to do is patch up your controller.
i used to feel the same painting in notes with a mouse doin all me knobs n faders with a mouse
then i bought my controller
i also have the korgms2000b,and love its sound to bits,so if you are gonna do it id suggest having a listen and play with one somewhere.

I like it both ways. I've gone that soft I don't even care for hardware synths anymore - except Virus TI and xstation maybevurt wrote:i used to feel the same painting in notes with a mouse doin all me knobs n faders with a mouse![]()

look up the genric remote in the manual
you can just not touch any of the things on your controller - and set up the parameter assignments for all your vsts within cubase

I'm going for an Alesis Micron - it has basically the same guts as the Ion but with fewer front-panel controls and a couple of tasty extras in the software. I have played with the MS2000B and I have a K-Station but it would be hard for me to say which one sounds better. The reason I am going for teh Micron is as much to do with its size as anything, although I like the idea of dialing up a Moog filter fro one patch, then an Oberheim filter for another and an Arp filter for something else - its a pretty cool concept.

Hey BONEs,
I have owned a Microkorg and to me, there is no possibility of great sound creation because of lack of userfriendlyness.

The Micron is actually very easy to get around. I spent about 30 minutes on it in my local GC, and I had it mastered.
They integrate the keyboard into the OS, using the keys for menu shortcuts. Very intuitive and fast. I'd still prefer an ION for its interface though, even without the reverb and delay, and the phrase sequencer, and the beat box rhythms and....
And the sound of both is absolutely gorgeous!

I've got an MS2000, and it's a great synth, that is if you don't need more than 4 voices. I don't. The virtual patch is great, and the synth does sound (and look
) ... khm ... analogue (runs for cover ...)
Plus, you can find a second hand one for a really good price these days. I'd say, go for it.
