Just wanted to mention- since someone asked for it,
I made an example of using Lucifer VST to process a drumloop.
Lucifer Demo Mp3
(the first 2 bars you hear is the constant input / source for the MP3)
Lucifer 1.5 is coming next month with a whole mess of new abilities (free, as always, for all registered users)!
Best,
Steve

Hey I tried the demo, but it won't work in Live 4 since Live won't accept midi to FX.

There should be a way to assign other controllers (CC#s) instead of notes to activate the different modes.

I tried using Lucifer in the demo version of Live (PC) and it was fine. The Lucifer manual (here) includes a bit of guidance on page 6 on how to use Lucifer with Live.

Hi all,
Coincidentally, I've just done my own demo track for Lucifer: here
The drums in it have come solely from using Lucifer on a single 2-bar drum loop. Recordings were made of the result, they were then reviewed, and the best parts were cut out and assembled into the final drum track. No other effects have been used on the drum loop.
The vocals have come solely from using Lucifer on a sample of a woman singing the line "I'm burning for you". (It's one of the free samples available from Doru Malaia.) The process for creating the vocal track was as for the drum track, including no other effects being used on it.
Finally, Lucifer was used towards the end to process chunks of a prior section of the demo.
Both the 2-bar drum loop and the vocal sample have been included at the start of the demo track. FYI this demo was made using a beta of Lucifer version 1.5.
Bye,
Steve

These demos sound a lot better than the previously release ones. I really love this plugin and can't wait for 1.5 to be released. Am I hearing some clever manipulations of the spread function or is there some new type of granular processing in there?

Hey Brian,
Lucifer 1.5 adds a bunch of new features. Here's the list of finished 1.5 features to date:
- option for volume graph to automate crossfader instead of volume
- playback sync is more accurate
- new Incarn mode allows for segmented loop-rearrange from the graph
- Incarn Record switch - translates your MIDI note keypresses into the Incarn Graph.
- polyphonic keypresses now maintain the phase of the slowest repeat pushed (e.g. if you play a 1/4 note repeat, then 32nd note repeats, when you release back to the 1/4 it will be in time with the original 1/4)
- improved crossfader operation (realtime function-dependant crossfade curve selection)
- improved segment (looping) crossfade operation
- improved distortion algo
- macintosh optimisations
- second smoothing knob (one for scratch/incarn, the other for filter)
- lower CPU use
The new Incarn mode certainly adds some granular-type sounds (especially with using its "smooth").
the "current" (release) version of Lucifer can get some similar sounds out with Notes mode and Spread knob (spread has a different function in both modes).

I expect that it's the Incarn mode you're hearing. It can be used for some great grainy timestretch effects.brianbrian wrote:I really love this plugin and can't wait for 1.5 to be released. I really love this plug-in too

1.5 should be out by the end of the month, it depends on the turnaround on some graphics bits I'm waiting on...Do you expect to release 1.5 soon? If you need more beta testers for it let me know, I have 2 PCs and a variety of hosts.
I emailed you the beta (I hope it was the right Brian!) Let me know if you didn't get it... steve at devine-machine.com

There will be AU, RTAS, and Standalone versions of Lucifer, probably in about 30 days.Any idea on when or if you will have an AU version out?
AU and RTAS will be free crossgrades (you will get your choice of VST, RTAS, or AU). Standalone will be a free "bonus" to all users.
Also, The latest Lucifer VST + Fxpansion VST-AU adapter is a combination which works great (in Logic 7, Live4, Bidule...)
Best,
Steve
