I hear Reason is able to handle feedback loops between effects. Does anyone know how big delay you get this way? Is it one sample long, or maybe 3ms or something?

It's quite easy to research this for yourself.
make a .wav where just one sample is for instance at full amplitude and the rest of that sound is totally silent. put this thru the delay loop and render to a new wav, check the time between the peaks.

My guess would be that the feedback delay = buffer size in audio settings (but I know nothing about reason).

I can't test it since I don't have Reason :) That's why I'm asking here.

I do have Reason but I'm not really sure what you mean :? . Anyway, I think you may be able to post on the *general* forum over at http://www.propellerheads.se/

Good luck :)

OK. Maybe I'll do that

Tried it. I think you're right Stefan. The feedback is probably as long as my ASIO driver's buffer size is. I can hear the sound's waveform. If it was a 1 sample long delay, the sound would be dramatically different.

The reason I was interested in this delay is because I've been planning to start my own open source sequencer project. It would have many nice things in it, including feedback between plugins. This is why I wanted to know if someone has actually managed to find a way to do a 1 sample long feedback loop between effects (even if it means to have your own plugin standard). Luckily I find this was not the case, so I can sleep my nights in peace now

I set up a simple feedback loop (1 Subtractor, 1 Spider Audio, and 1 Scream4), and tried changing the buffer size. The sound was identical, whether I used a 10ms or a 100ms buffer.

But it's still far from 1 sample feedback.
