The word 'crafted' is in quotation marks because this isn't exactly a work of art, though in my own little way I'm quite proud of and happy with the result. :D

I recently bought a cheap-ass 'studio pak' of Apex microphones, which came with shockmounts 'n stuff. They only came in a cardboard box, but the foam 'tray' they were packed in was about as good as any foam tray I've seen, so I thought I could put it to good use.

Using a combination of plywood and pine timber, I made a spiffy little case/box for them. I could have added more decorative elements (brass corners, for example) and it's not quite done-- inside the lid I'm adding another hinged compartment. But it does the trick and came out not half bad.

It's even better in person because the 'walls' were each cut down from a single piece of timber, and the assembled box maintains continuity of grain pattern. (ie. one wide piece was cut down to make a narrow piece and a still fairly wide piece).
