im guessing energyXT 'sees' VST plugins by their .ddl names rather than by their internal ID codes ...

... since i dumped fl-studio ive renamed all my VST .dll files (since fl-studio didnt do folder structures) and now all my old .ext files cant find my VSTs ...

... any chance it could switch to finding them by internal ID codes (which wont change) instead of by file name (which might) ...

... or even a combo ... search by filename first then by VST ID ???

Hi phz,

I'm not sure if I got your point, but I had the same problem and solved it as follows:

- Stored all vst-plugins in one folder and several subfolders (i.e. "vst" as the highest directory-level and several subfolders "fx", "synth", "drums" etc.)
- created a link to the highest directory-level as vst-folder in energyXT

At the next start energyXT found all plugins.

Nah I don't think it's that simple.

He has actually changed the name of the VST dll files.

He will have a number of project files that will refer to things like pads-crystal.dll or something, but now he's changed the dll file back to crystal.dll.

eXT won't be able to find the plugin anymore regardless of the file structure he puts into place.

From what I can tell the reason he changed the filename in the first place is because FL was not able to handle subfolders so renaming the dll was Phuzzy's only way of implementing any form of categorisation into his plugins.

Happiness is the hidden behind the obvious.

Thanks Caleb - I didn't realize that phz renamed the .dlls

Shame on me
