this is probably totally illegal (reverse engineering etc...) but:
Got the demo of this off a cover disk but don't use Giga... so I extracted the samples and was going to bash together an SFZ or something (limited samples i know but fine for my uses), just having a little trouble working out the differences between the samples...
I can figure out the velocity info etc. from the filenames but half the samples have an 's' prefix; doesn't stand for stereo as all the samples are, maybe sustain? They all sound darn similar to my cloth ears. I guess if it doesn't matter to me I should just ignore them but you know that feeling you get that you're missing out on something... ?

I don't know what a "cover disk" is, nor much about the demo. But if you have legitimate ownership of the source material, it shouldn't matter whether you change the format and use it in a different player. The manufacturer supports several different formats.
Just don't distribute it.

It's a fully functional demo from a magazine (Music Tech) CD. Limitation is 16 rather than 24 bit and a lot less velocity layers (3 instead of ... 8?) License says you can use it in your music so I personally don't see what's wrong with me converting it to another format more convenient for me (no, won't be distributing it).
Had a peek at various waves in Sound Forge, still hard pressed to identify the difference; same length, similar freq.resp... I just went with the ones that sounded best to my ears.
cheers,
