A new free sample site has been started from someone who likes sampling less common instruments.

There's not much content at the moment: Some percussion fx, a tarka flute and a tin whistle.

However, it looks like there will be more added.

Samples are typically in Giga 2.5 compressed or Giga 3 compressed format. However, there are some translations into Kontakt as well.

Might be an interesting site to look at every once in a while especially if you're interested in less common instruments.

I've been playing with your flute samples. Thank you for sharing these, they sound great and I love all the variations.
I do have a couple of questions about performance with them. I do not have giga sampler/studio but am able to import them into Vsampler. They show up as 11 different instruments. Each is assignable to a separate midi channel. I was curious if this was the original concept in the way you set up and mapped the samples or if I'm losing something in the conversion?
I would like to be able to switch between the different instruments while playing, you mention the "round robin" with the mod wheel is this how this functions in a giga sampler?
Sorry if these are stupid questions but I'm pretty new to the whole sampling thing.
Again thanks for the collection.

Judging from the demos, these samples sound sweet!
Just downloading the patches.

Many thanks, Herman!

MRT,
Performances are sorted into 3 patches: Ornaments (trills, mordents etc.) which have some pitch variations, Performances, and Overblown FX.

The Gigastudio 3 version has Round Robin, which automatically alternates between the staccato notes, in assignable patterns (2 different patches). Gigastudio 2 doesn't support RoundRobin, so alternating happens by moving the modwheel, in the GS2.5 version.

If you want to switch playing styles you can use program changes in your sequencer. This, however is not so practical when playing in realtime. I'm thinking about programming "keyswitches" for all of the instruments, which would be included in the next versions. I don't know whether VSampler supports keyswitches though.

Does this enter your questions?

HW, Thanks for the reply. I've been going through the Vsampler manual for a similar method of accessing the different instruments. As of yet haven't come up with anything.
Again thanks for sharing your work and these excellent sample sets.
