sometimes we need to work within certain time amounts...
Math.

There is no timer nor will there be one in 3.0. Big pain for some (like you).
ttoz wrote: also, i noticed with the snap, it is a "snap by" function...i.e. if you have snap set at a bar, and have a song in the middle of bar 1 (1.3.0.0), moving it will move it relative, for example, to middle of bar 2 and so on. is there any way to make it "snap to"?? i.e. to move it TO the closes subdivision of the snap, not "by"??
I don't have reason with me at work. It seems like this is possible tho. Anybody have an idea?

can't you do some quick math?

beats/min div 4 * #bars (or change for minutes if..) you only need to do it once after all, and just put a marker at the bar that was the result of the calculation

to check your time you can save the song with your locators around the whole thing. then go to the open song(project whatever...) and select your song as if to open it. there you will find the info you seek.

agreed, this is a strange omission

You could simply quantize the notes and then move them around.

Back in my Reason days I used this to calculate song length. Its pretty simple and quick. Not as good having it built in ofcourse, but what are you gonna do. I know I requested it in 2001, so did a lot of people. Its now 2005 and still not there.

Oh and the snap thing, no it doesnt have snap to, only relative. I used to set the snap to whatever, then just quickly hit the quantize 100% button if I needed something to snap to grid. Its a hassle. They should make it optional.
