Another day, another tuna (guitar wanking)

Yesterday I had the chance to mic my amp (son and wife were not at home) so I wrote this one www.show.gr/zeoy/tuesday.mp3 . In fact it's just a jam with me myself and I. Everything is one take (with some copy paste of course) so there are plenty technical-playing (last time I grabed my axe was more than a month ago) glitches but I like it. Hope you like it too.
CAUTION: there is long guitar soloing ( or wanking if you prefer) and it's a ~7MB 7 min thing

That was really nice zeoy. Made me pick up my Les Paul (well, copy anyway
) and jam along with it too. Some very nice fretwork going on there with some beautiful tones. What guitar and amp did you use? Sounds like you did a good job with miking the amp up too.
I would'nt mind a copy of the backing without the lead to jam over, it's very good.
I'm impressed. Well done.

Thanx for taking the time to download and listen blipp. Didn't know you play guitar too.
The guitar is a Levinson Blade R1 (~92 model, Strat type expensive but beautiful instrument )Never bought another since then.
Amp is a Peavey Bravo (~25W all tube 3X12 Ax7 2 ECC83 with a careful selection of tubes)
Mic is a Shure Beta 57A
This setup is capable of more interresting tunes, believe me. This was just a quicky.
Of course I can share the backing track but this will be tomorrow because I am at work right now.
I suppose a mixdown of all tracks (without the solo) in mp3 will do. OK? PM me if I don't PM you till tomorrow!

The rythm guitar is miced from the back of the amp and the solo is off-axis pointing the edge of the speaker from about 15cm away. Recording venueblipp wrote:Sounds like you did a good job with miking the amp up too

I have "Native instuments Guitar rig" as a proper amp is'nt really feasable for me because i would'nt be able to turn it up loud enough where i live.
I've pm'd you.

Micing my amp is rarely the case for me too. I live in a flat with my wife and kid and my neighbours are tolerant but not so tolerant.
I usually record through my preamp and using simulanalog (not bad).
I hope you will post your version too.

The soloing is quite delicious and sounding quite lush and alive. Only thing I somehow have a problem with is the chords track; I can't put my finger on it if it sounds out of tune with the rest or if it is the tone that sounds a bit off to my ears, but it feels a bit incoherent with the rest of the track.
Great wanking still though

I think it's a little bit of both. The progression is just 3 chords: An Eminor7/9, Cminor7/9 followed by a B a la Hendrix (don't remember the name, its a B,D#,A,D). None of these chords sounds exactly pleasant when played with a crunchy sound. The soloing is easy with the E and B chords but that C is a pain in the arse and I am not a Jazz guitarist (I think it's obvious). As I said in my first post the solo was one take, I was playing with the monitor off and I was playing without too much thinking (I think it's obvious alsoMystahr wrote:I can't put my finger on it if it sounds out of tune with the rest or if it is the tone that sounds a bit off to my ears
Thanx very much for the feedback to both of you
P.S. @blipp: I will upload the backing track in a few hours and I will PM you

I loved that chord work. It has a very Fripp-ish feel for me.

Some interesting ideas.
How old are you? I ask because you play like a more mature dude.
Vibrato and intent is what defines a good guitarist, not meandering riffage... with everything you record and play, make sure you are trying to say something.
My playing is shit though... ignore me
I do love the feedback/noise section at the end... that was total inspiration, you forgot about notes/technique and just moved around to get the right noise... down that path lies true expression (imvho

Who's that Fripp guy?virtual virtuoso wrote:I loved that chord work. It has a very Fripp-ish feel for me
Unfortunately you guessed it right! I am 37 and I play electric from 18 (self taught-was playing classical before) but I surely would prefer beeing 17.Chickenman wrote:How old are you? I ask because you play like a more mature dude.
Yeah, that's what I like tooChickenman wrote:I do love the feedback/noise section at the end... that was total inspiration, you forgot about notes/technique and just moved around to get the right noise... down that path lies true expression (imvho )
