From the WDC metropolitan no-fly zone: I rushed to post this before Amendment XX to the U.S. Constitution goes into effect. I hope it's not too raw. I can identify genre for anyone's music except my own, but I guess it's kind of avant/neo-wave/art-hop.

If you missed my earlier Agitpop offerings, they are Sidewinder and Mission Accomplished. Both have been remastered - such as it were.

Sorry for that. The server seems to be very busy today. But thanks for trying.

Top track You. As usual. I have to say that I prefer the singing style you had on Get by.

Just finished listening now. I quite like this. Your voice in this has that same tortured feel as say Roger walters in the wall, maybe with a hint of Pop Will Eat Itself or something. Maybe not as polished as some of your other songs... seems to miss that normal layer of gloss... but some great ideas in here and a good enjoyable listen..:)

I must get round to doing something to that collab song. I have to admit I've not been that "creative" recently... though I have been busy with other things so it's been hard to find time...

Yeah, I didn't put my makeup on for this. Well, I did, but I smeared it all over. Maybe it's a bit pretentious, but I want to get back to bigger ideas in my songs. One of the things I've always liked about certain old prog and punk music was that there was often some kind of plot or theme. (I suspect that what everyone else hates!) So much music and art is simply style and energy - and that's great, but I think I'm interested in the conceptual too. I like story telling, puzzles and challenges.

FWIW, My wife only likes when I sing softer - she's not a fan of my angst. :hihi:

It's snowing here!

The only way to tackle it

Love the backing in this George; cool mangled piano and some great noises happening in the background (although they may be a tad too present). One thing I do notice though on the vox is how to me it feels as if your eq-cutting went a bit too low; it seems that the articulate and richer low end is lacking while there seems too much mid high in the vox making it sound a bit too sharp and hollowed out; hmmmmmm listening a bit deeper and the hats seem to only emphasize the feeling I had. Perhaps muffling the hats and bringing up the vox a bit more might bring out the vox a bit more and richer.

Missed the mission accomplished track in the folder so I grabbed that one along the line too.

Thanks Mark. After many listenings, I did apply a slight bit of high-pass EQ to the vocals. But to my ears, I wasn't loosing much except for a bit of low end that I feared was muddying the bass (what with all that guitar drone in the background too). Plus, I thought it helped add bit of clarity in the words - but you're right, it's not too rich. I don't think my voice has much richness to start with. The drums and my crunchy one-finger guitar track are submixed already, but I could prolly roll off some of the sharp transients. I dunno - this song's not not the prettiest flower in the bunch, but it has some import to me. If the "backing" you refer to is the voices, I made a very weird collage of speeches for this. I considered posting it by itself because it's so unusual. It contains politicians, preachers, military officers, celebrities, crackpots and kooks. Everything from Bush quoting the Bible to OJ Simpson talking backwards to a USAF press conference about the Roswell crash. The other backing track is the droning guitars - lots of eBow, delay, reverb, delay, EQ and more delay. The mangled piano was a happy accident of odd EQ and chorusing, but it reminded me of that psychedelic Beatles sound on "Don't Pass Me By." I thought it a nice change from all the postmodern digital efx.
