Pitchbend makes some sounds louder - any way to work around?

I've found that the pitch bend changes the actual volume of some sounds like the saxophones, and I would like to know if there is a way to turn off this volume swell. I prefer to use normal pitch bend function without the volume swell.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

what program are you running?

SampleTank and Tracktion.

It's in SampleTank, it's the sound preset, the Expression and standard saxes do this.

I don't think the other sounds do. I'm not sure why they do this, but maybe they were designed for this sort of behaviour.

It is "programmed" into the sounds - whatever that means. You're not the first to ask. I asked a while back and basially, that was the answer.

I'd like to know what all is "programmed" into the sounds as opposed to the raw "here's a sample that's been looped and mapped" - you do the rest. I'd also like to know at what level this "pregramming" exisits - it this something that is in the preset itself using controls we just don't have access to or is in somehow in the sample level?

Just questions.

Well, compression will solve this one for you, if you don't want that much of a volume swell....

Yes, sometimes it is programmed into the sound where pitch bend is modulating volume for expression. When I go through the sounds for ST2.1 I might see if there is some way to adjust that with a Macro or something (or make an alternate version where that isn't prewired).

One thing you could try though is using the MIDI CNTRL to assign a controller directly to PITCH. The problem is that you may not have a spring controller sending out a different message than the number for pitchbend.

I had the same desire myself for one of the solo violins that I like in ST2. So, if you have a list of sounds that do this that you want to email me I can have a look and see if it can be adjustable or if there can be an extra alternate in the 2.1 update.

See? Ask and you shall receive! ;)
