New mastering series EQ available! I think this was modeled on the Sontec parametric EQ. Looks sweet. Also announced is the "Ultra Pak" including ALL plugins.

I played with it all last night, and this thing is awesome for surgery. Such a solid bottom-end and smooth highs. You can get some really nice air since the hi2 filter goes well above 20Khz! It has a subtle character to it, but even boosts/cuts of .5dB are clearly audible. I'm much more excited about the Dimension D and SpaceEcho though.

Please excuse an ignorant f*ck, what´s so great about the roland delay? I´ve heard a pal raving about it, but haven´t figured out why. What can it do that OhmBoyz or the PSP 42/84 delay can´t?[ Lex ] wrote:Me too, but we have to wait until summer for thebrianbrian wrote:I'm much more excited about the Dimension D and SpaceEcho though.

The Space Echo is very different sounding to the PSP Lexicon delays. First of all, it's tape-based, and it has a special warm dark sound all its own. It's been on so many classic albums and I think this will be a huge seller for UA and Roland.

The UAD-1 looks more fantastic with each update. It's amazing what Universal Audio is doing and I'm sure the Roland emulations will be spot on. However, I will NOT buy an UAD-1 card untill it goes firewire or has much more power.
Cheers!

bManic: I think you'd really like this new EQ. You can totally notch out individual sounds, without making a mix sound altered very much. The highs up to 27Khz are also pretty damn sweet.
klagga: Space Echos have a nice warm sound that is incredible on electric guitars. It is also a multitap delay unlike the PSP ones (although ohmboyz can do this). There is a spring reverb unit after the delay which definately adds a "spacey" vibe to the echos. Also when the intensity (feedback) is cranked up, the delay line saturates and compresses the tape, sounding much nicer than a runaway digital delay. Finally you can tweak the delay time smoothly in real-time without any digital stuttering artefacts. The Space Echo is more like an instrument than an effect.

Yes, I know I'd love the new plugin but I don't want extra PCI cards in my machine and currently can't afford the UAD-1. Also, I have a feeling they will be out with a firewire or similar solution, with more power, soon (in a year or so, hinted in the recent SoS article). I've soon spent all my money on the sintefex unit so I wont be needing eq really.. the GML 8200 is as smooth as can be on the sintefex.
Cheers!

Don't fool yourself. The UAD-1 is very powerful as it is. I do agree that we need a more powerful version though, at least 4X the power of what we have now.bmanic wrote:The UAD-1 looks more fantastic with each update. I agree. We need the future UAD1 to be at least 4x more powerful. The plugs coming out for this platform are just amazing. As far as PCI version, I have 2 of them and I don't want to put another one in cause I don't have more room. Also my future PC will probably have only 3 PCI slots. That's not enough. I'm also not willing to spend $1000 for a magma chasis, although it would be cool to have.electro wrote: Don't fool yourself. The UAD-1 is very powerful as it is. So UA, we need a more powerful UAD with something else than PCI connection. And keep the plugs comming

4X power would allow us to do everything we do at 44.1 in real time at 192Khz in real time. Thats why I think 4X the power should be the minimum.

isn't the problem with 4 times the power that the current chip wasn't designed or made by UAD - so they would ahve to find another old graphics card dhip that works the same way thats 4 times as powerful
not easy
i suppose they could put 4 times a many chips onboard
