I know how to draw step curves in all envelope screens, but when I send CCs from a keyboard it draws a curve. How do you manually draw smooth curves for parameters?

You can't. You have to do it via the use of breakpoints. The CC's from your keyboard don't draw a smooth curve, it just draws lots of breakpoints to give the illusion of a curve.

then my question is how to create high res break points. you can't? that makes the envelopes useless. you can't even fade out tracks. i can't, at least.

CTRL+4 (or 3, not sure) to turn off snap to grid and then draw freehand...

You can either zoom in and draw them in with the pencil, or you can turn off snapping altogether and do it by your eye.

The thing to remember is that envelopes work point by point, so if you want a steep curve, you'll need lots of points, and probably less if you don't want a steep curve.

My advice though, record it from your keyboard - keeps a bit of that human feel to your music.
