Man I am so pumped! I will be able to talk to these guys and get some real demo's out for folks new to vst's here. Plus not only that, but I hope they'll get a virus ti or some other cool synths, this town otherwise wouldn't.
You have to realize the excitement is due to the fact, I called them and the guy in keyboards said, no we won't have say RMX for demo, but we will have NI stuff out....whereas other local music stores around here, if asked if they sell vst's, they look at you like you said STDs
Oklahoma'ers it will be open thursday!

ehh dont expect too much.. the GC here in memphis opened up relatively recently too (about a year ago I suppose now).. and well the employees there are pretty well about the sales.

unless you look like you're willing to drop a lot of cash, I doubt they'll give you much attention..

I stood around in the monitoring room for about 5-10 mins waiting for some service and no one even bothered.. and none of it was enabled at the time.

but the one here is really small.. the synthesizer room is about the size of a large bedroom... no virus and no nordlead out for demo. (though I'm guessing they'll have the TI out when its released)

I didnt even see a headphones trial place.. which is why I last went there. they seemed to be all behind the counter.. boxed. thats also where all the software is.. in the end I left emptyhanded. I'm guessing now that all the headphones must be in the DJ area since I've heard they normally have trial 'phones and its the one place I didnt go.. :?

but they didnt even carry CM or FM when I last checked (which was a couple months ago) yet they had loads and loads of guitar mags  I guess they arent called Guitar Center for nothing?

and maybe yours will be better though..

here there is another music store called Strings and Things.. they have a much bettter computer-music and synth oriented room.. even have a computer or two with all the software installed for you to try.. loud. Too bad they're in a dirty part of town :(

I guess the only truely good thing that I like about GC is they're willing to deal with you.. bring in an ad or printouts and in most cases they seem to be willing to pricematch.

At the GC in Houston, I swear I will never go back every time I set foot in that place. Its super packed all day long, the sales people are less than helpful, the store is way to loud, you have everybody soloing like mad on any instrument they sell, you cant get to the keyboard section because all the wanna be producers are crowding around all the Korg Tritons "makin Beatzzz" you got every 12 year old kid playing "smoke on the water" on the decent guitars so all thats left is the korean crap guitars. They have about 10 software instruments, and most are the mac OS 9 RTAS version. GGG I hate GC

all I can do is offer my sympathy..... :? GC/MF sux, they won't get my money (or me for that matter, though the offer is always there)...use GC to check things out, then buy from some of the good places online...afterall they have no problem taking advantage of you (it might be their creed)...

I have to concur with Vitamin on this one.

You hit the nail on the head.

That is the exact same way the GC is out here in Sacramento. I've been to another one and recieved the same "standard" service. You can't demo shit and the sales people try to "one up" you when you ask about things. All the headphones are behind the counter, and all they have to demo softsynth-wise is Mac software. All they sell for the most part is PC based software. WTF?

I don't even go near the keyboards. All you get to do is wait for the hip hop composer "posers" to get done with their 3 hour demo while not actually being serious about buying shit. Get the f**k outta there! :x

Price match is a good thing there though. I had no problems with it when I bring in a print out. Bought my monitors that way.
