This is back in the days when I was using an XP50 MIDIed up to a akai 950 sampler....

back then I was pretty new to the game and had come from a guitar playing and DJ background. So one night I start working on a groove and it just straight away starts jelling very nicely. I had made a mistake while programming the bass sound on the XP50 and adjusted the wrong parameter, but it was a happy mistake! Sounded great and beyond my abilities as a programmer at the time. I then layered up the original bass sound I was looking for under that and was very pleased indeed.

I then proceeded to sample a few bits from my record collection and found a few cool hits and Vox phrases..."aaahhh its all coming together great!"

Earlier that day I had bought a couple rice-paper lamps from Ikea and thought that I would put one together while playing my track so I could get more ideas for it. When I put the lamp together I obviously connected the wires wrong so when I plugged it in....BOOOF!!! The thing went up in flames in my hands and broke the electrical circuit in my apartment. I ran to the sink in the darkness and put out the fire and cursed in pain.....

........then I realized I hadnt saved my work yet....

I don't think I can top that, but I have lost quite a few things along the way. (most of all I think I lost my sanity too)

Take an expensive big-shot lawyer and blame it on IKEA!
That track could have made you famous, isn't it?

Not exactly lost a track on a computer as such but...

A few years ago had some a reel-to-reel and DAT tapes with the entire recorded output of my 2 bands on. I gave them to a friend who was cutting a demo in a studio and in exchange for doing their artwork he said he'd get the tapes transferred to CD.

But he lost the tapes and we never found them - I was gutted!

I am now in the process of redoing them on the computer.

I remember the last few attempts I made to see him. He was too busy appearing as himself in "West Heath Yard" at the time. Oh the irony...

Wanker.

Still, suppose technically I did 'see' him.

That is a shitty way to lose a track! I think th eonly way I lost some older music was through hard drive failure. the music wasnt all that great though, except for one song...
