what synth would you recommend for 1/16 psytrance basslines?

the usual subtractives sound way too muddy

I want an really well articulating, crisp sound which can be played at really low notes and still sound full but not muddy.

the full-on type of gms, psysex, hujaboy .. skazi .. ?

hujaboy would be nearest if you know them but I think most of you don't ..

I've tried v-station, es-2, tau and a bunch of others.. all way too muddy

I need some exceptional articulation.

I don't want to resort to vb-1 yet .. ;P

before responding, try to understand that my needs are very specific

don't respond with mixing advice. I know all that stuff already. I've been tweaking basses for 10 years. haven't tested all the synths though, so there's where I'd like to have recommendations.

If you get a good bass out of an 303 emulator, that's cool, but that's not what I'm looking for. ok?

I'm looking for the most prefect, crisp, almost anti-boomy - but still full - psytrance bass sound. got everything else rounded up, but want to find the "perfect" synth for it, too.

please, try to understand what I'm looking for.

Hi Moonlite! Have you tried out TRIANGLE I yet? It gives you nice full basses. To get more articulated basses you maybe should tryout some FM synths.

sorry moonlite, is there really anything wrong with novation, emagic(?) and muon?
if you're not satisfied with those instruments, try other ones but don't expect to find a perfecttarncebasslineselfcomposerVsti LOL
probably you have already great basslines, you're just too perfectionist to realize it

Yeah FM synths is something you should try..

and why not record some real basses...

try a gate aswell to cut some of that mudd out when it dosent need to be heard..

use your imagination, a h/w synth might be the answer for you... something that can work fast.. go check with some synth nerds somewhere

Sometimes its the synths you least thought where able to produce what you wanted that does it...

oh yeah, triangle is something that I was supposed to try but forgot about it .. I'll do that. thanks!

hum, yeah, I've just realized that fm could be the way to go .. just notised how it drops a LOT of mud from the bottom but still widens the spectrum. I just have to watch out that I don't start to sound "too fm:ish" ;)

any good ones from that front for this stuff?

nope, there's nothing wrong with those (except a couple of bugs, I guess) but they just don't cut it =)

oh yeah, I'm not expecting anything else but a sound that /can/ be made to sound like hujaboy <3 =)

i've got a lot of compliments on my sound, but it still doesn't sound as good as the aforementioned stuff. .. need to try something new ..

want to have the t.i.p. sound

yeah, when I'm going for drum'n'bass .. but not for full-on psy ..

:D .. we've just got different approaches to dynamics ;) .. I do this so that I put release time as 0 and just make the note shorter =) .. same effect ..

naah, got enough hardware .. doesn't sound better at all and is a PITA to work with with sysex and stuff ..

then again, I don't need the basslines to come "fast" as you put it. I want them perfect and I'm ready to put hours into it per song (I allready am ..)

yeah! true! I've always thaugth the image-line stuff as .. well, lets say "inferior" but I had a quite more powerful expression in mind ;)

but now in this new song I'm working on I'm using sytrus on the basslines and they've never sounded better! =) .. applying some FM and loving the envelopes

though it has its downsides, too .. that's why I'm still looking ..

why dont you email hujaboy and ask for his baseline

go with your own flow... no one will never be fulltime happy, Dont overload the happyometer, it will only bring you pain..

happy today sad tomorrow, make a effort and then your ego will have a harder time messing with you...
(and i dont mean that you dont make an effort)
on the contrary it might be that if you put to much effort in things you feel that you should have done more... well well... hehe

tweak till you bleed! and maybe hujaboy will email you someday
