how you do it: whole mix through a filter somewhere in song

I am using phutboyslim from scuzzphut in the middle of the song so the whole mix goes through and makes dig dig dig dig dg dg dg dg drrrrrd. The FX is on the Master FX Bus.
Cool thing, now I want also that on this part the mix goes through a filter cutoff (drrschd).
So this is what I do: I use one of those 100s of freeware filter FX and draw a filter line on the part, ok. But the filter FX is on the whole mix even if all sliders return to zero, it´s not 100% the same mix then it was without FX on the master FX way.
I want to do it with midi and I don´t wanna pay for a midi FX. Possible?
Or is there a better solution, how do you do it?

well for me i use orion platinum
i would feed the whole track through a master bus as well and only switch the phaser on at the point of neccessity

Yes, thats the main reason I still using the filter on FL Studio, because it doesn't change the sound when is open.

But anyways, you can do tricks, use the dry signal on the whole song and switch to the wet signal gradually when you want the filter applied.

You can also automate resonace as well. So you have no resonance when the filter is open and some res when is close.

Plus I am sure you can block the anal seepage with the .wav as well

I suppose what you're really looking for is a filter plugin with a "bypass" or "on/off" button that you can automate. That way you can switch it on at the start of the dgidgidgidgdig and then off when it's finished.

Alternatively, Kjaerhaus classic autofilter has a Direct/Effect mix knob which you could automate to 100 for the chuchuchuchuchuchuc and back to 0 for the rest of the track.

yes, that´s what I normally do, but now I want everything controlled.

After the doing the mixdown of the whole project, cut the section to which you want to apply the effect, move it to its own track, apply the effect and do a remixdown of the two track version--works like a charm.

Use a filter with a Wet/Dry control. Alternatively set up a group with a pre-fx send to the filter, and route the group and filter output to the master out. Crossfade to the wet signal around the beginning of the filter sweep and then back to the dry signal at the end.

Best way. You could import the whole lot into CMuzys and do it from there!!

The SH-1 Filter (FREE!) is perfect for this. Not only does it have overall wet/dry mix control, it doesn't affect the sound at its default setting, when the cutoff is at 100% and the Res is at zero. perfect for the "DJ" sweep.
