question
Lenny Kravitz used a tube amplifier and a very short delay and almost no reverb on his voice
on a song called "stand by my woman"
i tried to get a similar effect and succeeded a bit besides one point ..his voice melts in the music while mine stays separated so i experimented a bit with volume and eq but couldn't solve it
usually i solve a problem of voice separated from mix with reverb but i just don't want reverb on this
because i don't hear it in Kravits its recording .... and the effect disappears when i add reverb
any suggestions on how to get that Kravits effect in a proper way ?

Try a compressor, works for me! Without that it does not blend for me. The tube should have done some saturation already, maybe you need a bit more of that.
Or you need just a bit of "room", not the full hall reverb but just a bit of ambience. To counter-effect an acousticly dead room you might have recorded the voice in. Hard to say without hearing it.

I thought the Kravitz effect was when something started out with much promise and then squanderis it into unimaginative boring and uninspiring output.

I just heard the song, I guess is just a early reflection, just one delay.
It appears to be applied in most elements, only on the first parts on each phraze. I can hear it on the piano, voice and drums.

thanks everyone !!!!!!
i nailed it with a short single delay pseudo stereo and eq and a room simulater
now all i need is a better vocal track
