Does it worth it? I.e. Somebody did it ever - made home sample library and sold it for $$$$$$$$?

I thinking about this: buy Kyma for $3470+shipping http://www.symbolicsound.comm create own library 'Distorted Reality killer'. Possible?

People make sample libraries – they can be from anything, the more diverse and unusual, or multi sampled instrumentation with pro players striking the notes (so there is a const for layering) the better.

I have seen sample libraries that were successful made only from a $5 jug.

Sampling is an art in itself – the sample often needs to be tuned, trimmed, converted, put into library formats of various kinds to have any real success.

I think if you think in $$$$$$ I doubt it will work – it should be done with passion.

Besides the investment in Kyma, you are going to have to press the product to some kine of media, CD or DVD, so thier is another $1000 for a small run. Add to that the hours you will spend making the collection. Then think about just one of your disks ending up on Kazza or any other P2P netwerk and suddenly your sales dry up. I had a small electronic lable in the 90's that made a modest profit till the advent of the MP3 download and P2P. We folded up our tent because it was just not worth it. (by the by, we thought about doing a sample CD too)

Share-it (and other virtual print sites) do CD on demand service - so this is not a big deal.
It possible to hire person who will care with postal/burn things.
Sadly, but true - everything ends with p2p nets, and big libs and small.

Still, no story of success :)

I can't afford it now but in any case it would be nice to know its price and condition. Kyma is very powerful sound design.

Thanks!
