Does anyone know of a website where they have visual aids that explain what to do when your mixing a track? I would really like to see visually what your supposed to do when your mixing a track.
Specially when it comes to the sound spectrum. Or maybe something along the lines of "how to use a spectrum analyser" or "how to use a multiband copressor". :) :help: :help:

Rule one: trust your ears, not your eyes... Some of the most beautiful songs have a very ugly unbalanced spectrum, some songs without peaks & dips in the spectrum sound horrible.

There is no easy way I'm afraid. You have to experiment a lot and get experience in what works and what doesn't. After some years I'm still busy learning every day...

Now I recall there was a site with the Holistic Approach of EQ & Compression. Can't find it anymore alas...

"Look at it as a box. Frequency is one axis, dynamics is another and stereo another. Each instrument is a coloured blob in the box. Shape the blobs so they don't interfere with each other. Professional producers can squeeze more in the box."

Anybody knows which site I refer to? It was quite a good read...
