hi,

I'm searching for free 60s style retro drum samples (or a whole kit). Maybe a "overhead sampled" kit would also do the job.
Does anyone know a site with such samples, or maybe tips to get a good retro drum sound?

should get there with free samples and some ork.. there's loads of acoustic kits around now..

on the quick, if you're moneyed, try the cheap drum package for.. is it sampletank, all red? imo lovely tone. wish i wasn't so cheap.
you come and go, you come and go. amitabha neither a follower nor a leader be tagore "where roads are made i lose my way" where there is certainty, consideration is absent.

Sample some drum loops off a 60's record, then slice it.
Or use Voxengo TapeBus on a normal Acoustic Drum Kit.

like what for example ?...The beatles kind or Jimihendrix/led zeppelin kind ?

have you tried using nskit and such and just compressing the heck out of it plus some spring reverb ?
If your plugin is a Synth-edit/synth-maker creation, Say So.
If not Make a Mac version of your Plugins Please.

thanks for the tips so far...

I don't really know what kind of sound. It just should sound oldschool :). For example, I like it when the toms sound very muffled and short, whith nearly no tone (In such a mix the toms and the snare sound virtually equal). The snare sound should then be also short and snary.
