100 wavecycles
40000 samples total length
zero crossings every 400 samples

evolution of wav character does not have to wrap at ends, just hopefully continuously different and interesting. try and maximise each wavecycle if you have the facility.. if not, i'll sort it.

how do you do that?

my transwaves will use 100 wavecycle-frames. each frame is 400 samples long. how do you do that?

simple - take your source and retune A to 440Hz instead of 440!!! then play 2 octaves down.

in your waveeditor (i use twe231 for free) trim the total sample length to 40000 samples - that's 400x100!!! check to make sure there is a ZERO (dc 0, 'cross in the middle line tingy') at every 400 samples. it's okay as long as it's REALLY CLOSE - none of this 25% amplitude crap because that will cause pops.

let's wait til we get a couple of pledges, i'm not gonig to bother to make it if i only get 2 samples.

I think you mean retune A to 400Hz, 2 octaves down to 100hz.

edit: and make sure the patch you are using doesn't use any pitch detuning -- via LFO, envelope, or control knob.

Second: What's a transwave?

Honestly, I should know this shit, seeing as how I like wavetable shit and resynthesis shit.

What I'm gathering here is that you want a wave file that's 40000 samples long, consisting of 100 single cycles of precisely 400 samples.

What I'm *not* getting is this: should the cycles evolve over that time? And if they do, should evolve back to the starting point by the 100th cycle? Or does this just represent the first part of the sample playback, and the oscillator will loop on the final cycle when playback arrives there?

Really, I can help: I'm just uncharacteristically lost on this stuff.

nope, i mean exactly 441Hz, that way in one 44100 sample second, there are exactly 100 samples per cycle

samples don't have to wrap, and yes, should evolve smoothly thru the sample.

tbh, it would be easy to set up a synthedit environment for making 'transwaves' (it's proprietay but for convenience) but i'm pretty jaded.. wavetabling, whatever.. it's jsut a twist on the rom concept.

i'd say more one of those strawberry shrtcake berry characters with the string in the back that makes it talk than barbie. talking barbie jsut wants to get ice cream after school with ken. s.s. otoh is all magyckalle and sparkly like fizmo.

Characteristic of xoxos language is the frequent use of the word shit and derivatives of it in a variety of meanings. Xoxos replace enough nouns and verbs in everyday speech to make the conversations barely understandable...
