The question is :

What does exist as posibilities, plug-ins as well as non-real time applications, to create (pseudo)-surround files, based on original stereo soundtakes ?

In practice, the goal would be to work with "phased stereo soundtakes" ( U know, simple sountakes made with an XY stereo pair of monophonic microphones or a stereo one ? ) of small acoustic bands, to create artificial surround ambiances based on these takes

I've got some very eclectic experiences in creating stereo and pseudo-stereo audiophiles and this is an extrapolation based on it, that it sould be possible...

Any suggestions are welcome !

you're asking kvrs for technics on how to achive the surround effect from previously recorded stereo tracks righ?
i never worked on a surround setup, only left and right monitors, tho it all goes around reverbing it and equing, maybe those stereo enhancers help you too... quite a help ehhh :singer:

Hi,

You can take some look at the AutoSpectre and some other spatialization and multi-channel effects at http://acousmodules.free.fr

The best results are achieved for me with a combination of the AutoSpectre 246 or 248 and a mix of the output of the SpatPod...

There is also a thread (in french) about this problem on the forum at http://acousmodules.proboards25.com/ind ... 1106041957

Some of the Tony B. http://www.cubaselessons.co.uk/SurroundPlugs.htm and StarPlug (a little expensive) http://www.starplugs.com/sess/utn;jsess ... shopscript can also be useful.

Tout ça a l' air de tomber très a-propos, ...merci mon pote !

Send left&right to a large hall reverb (I think Ambience can do well) that is routed to the back pair speakers. Set the reverb full wet with a pre-delay of 30 to 80ms. Experiment with different settings (levels, the EQ, etc) and you'll be able to simulate you're in a big concert hall.

That's an idea to be kept, but the style of music i want to treat in surround wouldn 't work such well with a concert hall simulation ( west-african traditionnal musics )...but similar setting using small room size would maybe do a good job ( as it does, by experience, with original stereo soundtakes...)
