Caught this on tv earlier today, my first reaction was f#ck me, is nothing sacred?
Actually, it's not bad at all on a second listen, which has got me worried.
RIP Black Tom and Beckett. They weren't just cats, they were MY cats, the best cats ever.

Have you heard it? http://www.contactmusic.com/new/home.ns ... dsx0x02x05 I don't know what to make of this
I thought H.O.L was one of those songs that couldn't be covered, at least covered competently. This version isn't half bad.

It seems to be the big new tune in the indie clubs - I heard it at the phono on friday and at the fab cafe on saturday.
Its alright, and has reminded that I really really love the lyric
Take my shoes off,
And throw them in the lake,
And I'll be
Two steps on the water
do you remember the cover of Wuthering Heights done by china drum about - ooh - 10(??!!) years ago
I think that there was a cover of running up the hill a couple of years ago, but i cant remember who by

Im biased of course, as Kate is my God(ess), even so, her music is so intensly stylised and personal to her, its damn near impossible to cover it successfully/credibly.
Basically, its a "let's take this totally unorthadox and complex music arrangement, and dumb it down for the masses" exercise that always fails miserably. , This latest cover is just shite. HowEVER old you are.

But how could anyone of any age be supportive of that Placebo cover? Just imagine it. Brian Molko's directionlessly angsty, caterwauling howl in place of Kate's dulcet, emotionally precise delivery.

I've got quite a few Kate Bush albums thankyouverymuchManc Chris wrote: Suggesting that only old tossers appreciate the genius of Ms Bush? Gerrouttahere.
Nah, it was more like,
"you cant do that!! its a song from my childhood!!"
Y'know, new band covering an old song
I think that it is all right, and I think that the Futureheads are quite good (great singers!), but the problem I have is that its gonna have some sort of post-irony cultural cool cache, cause Ms Bush is unfashionable at the moment.
But it does prove that she has X100 the imagination, writing powers and musicianship that the futureheads have, or will ever have

Loved the original and can't slate this as it is an interesting cover - let's face it - There cant be anything much worse than the scissor sister's cover of comf' numb - like them too as a band and think they have done some cool things - most of their album is pretty good but the comf' numb cover was just sacrilegious!

no probs with new bands coverin old or old bands coverin new,my problem is that in this particular case its pants
as for other future heads music it may well be that its good, but when you do a cover you always have a gauge and unfortunately in this case they came short of a good mark.in my opinion, obviously you are free to like it if you indeed do,well who am i to argue?
