I don't understand the demo ?

usually demo's will be before and after comparison, how are we supposed to know what it sounded like before ?

Post

It sounds to me like the effect is applied after the fourth bar.

Post

well, that was fast !!! ;) thanx ...
trying the demo now ... ;)

You're not talking about HydraTone right? :?

I guess I missed that threat.
What is it an exiter or somthing?

Sounds crisp but a lil' dirt

yes, the effect is applied after the 4th bar. Was it too subtle? I thought I squeezed the hell out of that kick. :)

Noo noo.. this demo snippet is for Compadre, beatpuncher a nasty (in a good way!) little compressor to punchen the beats!

Bmanic you sly master of subtle, when people listen to demos they want things on eleven.

This example goes straight thru many ears, undetected.

Post

Man, if you think this demo is subtle you need new ears. The kick is totally flat the first 4 bars and then I truly Smack it with compadre. Same with clap, the difference to the first 4 bars is quite big. Now the bass I can agree that it's subtle, it just makes it "bounce" a bit more.

It is pretty subtle bmanic, got to be honest.

I'm sure its capable of extreme nastiness too, and i think thats what a lot of people here want to have a demo of! Something that really beats the shit out the...erm...beat :)

Post

Yeah...on MP3 there's really not that much difference y'know. I can hear the clap compression, but that's about all (admittedly I'm listening at work on a crappy PC monitor speaker in mono :-o ).

What settings did you use...I would class in-yer-face as anything over 10dB of compression/gain...none of that pansy subtle 3dB nonsense. You should be trying to turn your wave into a rectangle for a demo, surely

:hihi:

Post

I can hear a fair difference on DT770 headphones: the kick gets much tighter, with the boominess reduced; the clap gains some attack. The bass seems a bit firmer also, but I could easily have believed that was just because the tighter kick left it more room.

I would suggest a slightly more extreme demo though! Maybe compressing the entire groove as a group would create more audible pumping artifacts?
