COMPADRE is a dynamics processor designed especially for use on beats, drumloops and other percussive material. Whether your looking for subtle enhancements or heavy duty compression, Compadre is an extremely efficient and flexible solution.

COMPADRE is the result of more than one year of research, development and countless hours of listening tests. The final product is a quality compressor that not only delivers a highly optimized sonic behavior, but also drips with it's own character. It has it's own unique sound with a quality response optimized for a dedicated purpose - drums, but it's flexible enough to be useable on many other types of tracks as well.

Furthermore Compadre features extensive sidechain control through external key input and flexible filtering. This allows for techniques such as synchronized gating, ducking and frequency dependant compression.

Features

• Feed forward RMS compressor with high quality characteristics.
• Multiple compression modes for expanded flexibility.
• True stereo sidechain. (4 channel input; 1+2=audio, 3+4=Sidechain)
• High & lowpass filters on the sidechain.
• Further 9 filter models featuring presets with key frequencies in drummixing.
• Adjustable low-level controls to finetune the compression characteristics. ("Snap", "Linearity" & "Envelope").
• Dry/wet control allowing easy "parallel compression".
• Optional extra "Crunch" by enabling a built-in second compressor on the output stage.
• Optional limiter on output.
• Zero latency.
• 80 categorized presets included.
Compadre is available as a VST plugin for the PC platform. The price is USD 49.00

looks really good. Any chance of a dll-only demo ?
(installer is quite big and my modem extremly lame...)

In fact it is just the dll's.
There are two dll's included: the normal 2ch stereo version, and a 4ch input stereo sidechain version.

Also the manual takes up some space.

I can upload a rar-packed file instead, which would cut the filesize to almost the half. I just wasn't sure if people would prefer zip.

Fantastic!

I was lucky to be one of the beta testers, and I can honestly say that this plugin is fantastic for getting a very aggressive, pumping sound that kills for drums. Additionally, it is flexible enough to let you generate some very interesting and distinctive rhythmic effects.

I also had a plesant surprise last night: I needed somthign to level a vocal track, and other plugins (all of them quite fine) just did not do what I needed them to do, Compadre nailed the sound simply by lowering the threshold.

Does the world need another compressor? Yep. :)

i'll try it later (was looking forward to this :)), and i prefer rar files ;)

Or maybe two demos, one being just the 2-in-Version without manual ?
Just a thought - if this is to much stress, i have to try this out another time, with some DSL lane.

But i am really curious, seems to be great for amplitude shaping and the - always difficult - task of optimizing drums.

I beta-tested this as well, and beatpuncher is the right term for it :o

It makes drums sound very very good :D

I second it all. Compadre is fantastic. I did a quick and dirty little demonstration how you can make even very lazy kick drums snap like no tomorrow!

I'll add my tenor/baritone to this choir as well and sing the praises to one of my favourite compressors.

What MickGael said,

Also, Compadre is nowadays my 'go to' compressor for a certain type of smack for drum busses and rhythmic material. It adds movement in a very specific way that no other plugin does quite the same.

It's this and GCO1 (which is very different) and you've a massive pallette of dynamics tools.

As for additional uses, and I don't generally swing that way, to all you sampleCD-drumloop lovers, this is the one you've been waiting for.

Thanks for the nice comments!

I will upload a demo-version with a smaller filesize tomorrow.

All righty, I have uploaded a Rar packed demo version instead, so it's now faster to download.

The zip version is still there in case anyone prefer that one.

ANY plans for a MAC version??

THANKS

I'll definitely be trying this one out over the next few days. The acid test is in the sound, of course, but I have to say that you make some damnably sweet GUIs.
