What's the closest thing to the RV7000 on VST?

Please don't let this turn into an anti-Reason flame thread. :D

But I _really_ like the RV7000 in Reason. It sounds particularly nice to my ears, and the Hall, Arena etc. presets seem to be quite well prepared.

I'm thinking of buying Reason to get hold of some of the effects and the NN-XT, but I'm wondering if there's a particularly good reverb out for VST that's similar to the RV7000. It's something I can't really explain in terms of implementation (convolution etc.) but just in terms of the 'ol lugg-hole test.

I've been reading old threads about the best reverbs for this and that, but I wondered if any Reason users had discovered anything similar in the VST world, for when they're not re-wiring to Reason.

I'm guessing that for the price of a good VST reverb I would be better value just picking up Reason for Re-Wiring to my host on the cheap (as it is before 3.0) and getting the NN-XT and extras thrown in as well?

Hehehehe, I've actually been playing around with that alot today. (one of the great things about eXT is that you can hide it easily when the boss is around... )

But I haven't really got the same vibe with GlaceVerb as clearly alot of other people have. The presets for Hall etc. seem to be incredibly short. Manually extending the size seems to result in a very tinny resonance, even when adjusting texture parameters etc.

I wish I knew what it was about RV7000 that I could explain better.

Try SpinAudio RoomVerb M2 IMHO its THE reverb
However I'm not sure if it has the kind of sound your looking for as I've never boderd loading Reasons reverb  (Am I missing out on something good ?)

You won't be able to use the RV7000 on anything but Reason synths and samplers though. I've been a Reason user since the start and I'm about to jump ship (for Live 4) mostly because of the extremely lame 3.0 update that almost took 2 years to develop. There are several features that I would really like to see implemented but I'll be damned if I'm gonna wait several more years... either way it's still a very useful and well designed program.

Anyways, back to your question...

Though not equivalent the the RV7000 these are my favorites...

Seems like it will be possible to feed audio into RV7000 and all the other fx in Reason soon, using Hammer Audio from Peter Tools (BTW, i'm not on their payroll :) ). Check this thread for more info.

Shamanix, JohnVulich: Wow, SpinAudio Roomverb M2 is pretty nice. I couldn't find the presets at first, but they're hidden away inside the interface. Some great presets. Also seems quite CPU efficient on my machine.

But at $145 (~ £80), it's getting close to the point where I can get Reason 2.5 with both the Reverb unit and the Sampler unit (currently £180 in UK shops).

Also, I only tend to use reverbs on samples, so I guess I would only be using the Reason internal sampler for that anyway.

John: I've been reading about people's dissapointment with the 3.0 on Propellorhead's forums. To be honest, I wouldn't use Reason for sequencing anyway, I'm primarily interested in using it as an instrument rack, and at the price it is in UK shops at the moment it might be a better investment than getting a quality Reverb VST and a Sampler VST. Hope you get on with Live though.

DRS: Interesting thread, thanks!
