Best way to get an electric guitar to sound like an acoustic

To be played via guitar, not keyboard/synth. I have GuitarPort and the best I can get is a good, clean, electric. I do NOT have an acoustic and I don't want to buy any special pickups.
Anyone know of anything close?
Thanks,
- Paul

I don't think anything is going to be as cheap, or sound as good, as going to your local pawn shop and picking up a cheap acoustic. I know Boss has a pedal to make an "acoustic" sound which is very effective in a live situation, but I don't think it would convince anyone in a studio recording.

I can handle it

If you have a mic available, you can get surprisingly good results by simply miking the strings. Just because it has pickups doesn't mean you can't record it like an acoustic. You'll probably want to send it through a good resonant filterbank to simulate the hollows in a real acoustic. It'll never replace the real thing, but it should work fine.
Wait... loot _then_ burn? D'oh!

I think Second Skin makes a good point. There's really nothing that can replace a 'real' acoustic. I've fooled with Aural Exciters in racks and got a good 'psuedo-acoustic' at times just out of my cheap Dan Electro. But other than that, I would recommend a Roland Pitch To MIDI convertor, a good SF2 or VSTi of acoustic guitar, and after maybe $500-$1000 for the software and hardware - you might be able to switch from a Ovation to a El Degas with belivability and nominal latency....
Or just pick up a Sears 'Willie Nelson Special' for $149.00 at Bargin Bin Boys and mic it.

A Bill Lawrence "Q-Filter" would do the trick quite nicely. It's only $20, but you will need to do some soldering.
