I was playing with CloneBoy and Nitro a few days ago and found them to be perfect in combination. I had a digital casio organ kind of pad which I mixed with a drum track using CloneBoy (drum channel transmitting, pad receiving). The result was a cool pad moving in rhythm with the drums. Then I fed this into Nitro and used saw and square LFOs to modulate amplitude, a formant filter and an LP filter cutoff. This just to make the track a bit bouncier and do some tricks of its own while still clearly moving with the drums. Then finally I ran the signal through a compressor to tighten it up and the end result was so cool!

I find these kind of experiments musically inspiring myself, that's why I wanted to share this. Probably nothing new to many of you, but maybe a spawner of new ideas to some... maybe... If not, sorry for wasting bytes.

Good to hear

Do you possibly have a snippet we could hear?

Of course!

Here's the casio organ I started with (I purposely chose a really cheap organ sound):

Here's after I mixed it with the drums using CloneBoy, then processed it with Nitro, GCO-1 and WiderBoy:

Here's the pad together with the drum track:

Finally, here's a mix with some more instruments:

I really love your Boys Paul! Eh, that didn't sound so good, did it? Ah well you know what I mean... :hihi:

Interrresting...
I've downloaded some of these plugs but never got a chance to try any. CloneBoy sounds kinda vocoder like, but isn't one , or is it ? time to have a look again.

Great stuff!! :D

Makes me think to myself:

What if I took 2 similar but different (ie. same genre, different rhythm) drum loops, same BPM, and used one for CloneBoy transmit and the other for my normal drum track.

The contrasting rhythms would mean that my now-alive pad would be bouncing in syncopation with the drum loop.

MMmm...

Thanks for sharing this!!

It's good when new ideas are spawned.

Pekadan.

I really like (and that's an English understatement) what you are doing with these sounds.

The full mix....is just great! It's going to become a 'How did he do that?' :D

Nice to see you throwing Wider Boy in there as well.

Excellent!

Thanks Paul for those kind words. I appreciate it!

My plan is to use this for a song. Hopefully it won't take too long before the tune's finished and maybe I'll even dare post it in the café then... Or I might just share some more interesting CloneBoy experiments as I go along. Really there are endless possibilities with that effect!
