... that there isn´t any since years.

I cannot understand that a developer who has made such a fantastic application doesn´t update it anymore. How much would he increase the sales and the customer satisfaction if he would do it.

Just had to complain about that. :(

what needs to be updated about it?

Post

Maybe the dev had false expectations about sales appeal, got frustrated, and walked away.

In my opinion, chainer does not need any updates, just a lower price point. But then, my opinion applies across the board to most virtual products.

Post

then again Chainer works flawlessly and doesn't seem to need updating at all, unless maybe some new features. but Chainer is so complete, i can't even think of a new feature to add to it...

Why do get software products updated?

Some months after the initial release I proposed the developer at least 5 improvements which would make it more comfortable to work with Chainer. At that time he agreed to implement these features in an update.
Some months ago I asked him again and then he told me that at that time he didn´t have the intention to work further on Chainer. Although he agreed that releasing periodical updates would increase the sales for sure. :?

I use Chainer and it really suits my purpose. I would like to buy it but I am reluctant to pay 60 euros for something without much of a future. Do any of you guys know the actual differences in the demo and full versions, and in your opinions would it be worth doshing out my euros for a full version.

I undestand the loading of presets are disabled, but are these presets sounds of the plugins or is it presets configurations of chainer, for example if I made a rack with a couple of synths and effects. Is it these I couldnt load

Thanks

I too was going to buy it, but after i found it was no longer supported, I lost interest. I think I would still pick it up for $30.00 USD. The current price is too high. I went with V-Stack instead, though I like the simplicity and quick loading of Chainer more.

mmmm (chin stroking) V-Stack, that's a thought. I forgot about that one. Is it any good and stable? I just need something to load and test instruments and effects. Agreed that Chainer is simple. I tried Minihost but it only loads one plug in at the time.

I just didnt want to be a whore to the Steinberg corporation- I like supporting the little guys. But if you reccommend it I might give it a spin.

I've read far too many horror stories about V-Stack at the Cubase Forum to entertain the idea of buying it. Have you had any problems with MIDI timeouts?
