Very sad news indeed. He was a huge influence on my music tastes during the late '80s \ early '90s, more so than John Peel.
Tommy got me into the likes of Metallica, Anthrax, Queensryche, Megadeth, Testament, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Helloween and the like.

Fond memories of listening to his show in the early 80s, hoping for some prog.rock and getting exposed to a lot of other great stuff in the process.
