I just got word today that my Komplete Care 2005 Kontakt 2 Upgrade is shipping in 10 days. I haven't seen anything on it, I was kind of wondering if anyone has had the opportunity to try it yet or what.

I guess that, as with every other companies, the beta users can't speak ot it until it is officially released.

surely you have already read this: http://www.nativeinstruments.de/index.php?kontakt_us

I'm watching for it :D

I just got the same notice... wow, I wasn't expecting it quite this soon... not that I'm complaining!

I'm really looking forward to the impulse response effects... and hope the library has some decent new content as well. Oh and then there's the scripting engine...

To me, the userinterface is the biggest improvement of them all, at least it looks like it so far. Kontakt 1.x userinterface has always put me off Kontakt, with v2 it might change, who knows.

this is much earlier than I anticipated

i just got my external hard drive Friday night and moved 10 gig of sample libraries over to that so my system has some room to breathe again

looks like this may also force the upgrade to 1 gig of ram.

??? Every screen shot I see looks exactly like 1.x->Guitar Rig-> etc.. How is the 2 interface different?

Well, "Kontakt" isn't "Guitar Rig", for starters...

The K2 interface is drastically different from Kontakt 1.x, believe me.

I can see the screenshots of K2 on the website. It looks EXACTLY like K1 and GR and the rest of the browser left/rack right/use the + key to open new window interfaces they have going.

Again, in what way is it different? I don't see ANY difference at all.

OK, I apologize for being snippy (must be monday), but to me, K2 looks really different from K1. Yes, the browser looks like Guitar Rig, but my point was that K1 doesn't have that drag+drop component feature - so right there, that is really different. I've been using Kontakt since day 1 and tell just by looking that K2 has a lot of new things in the UI and feature-wise. It looks similar to K1, but to me it's like the difference between Cubase SX 1 and SX 3.

no prob man, and I'm not saying I don't like the interface it just doesn't look different to me. I seriously wanted to know what the differences are because they are NOT apparent via the web site. The drag module feature by the way is an update from guitar rig

I think what we are seeing is that they have this rack and stack interface (reason with no cables) template that they are using now and as they add functionality to it the next version of any given program will have whatever features are in the current interface template.

I guess when everyone talks about huge interface improvements I think it will look different. Not just add some functionality to the existing one.

Oh and one more thing, I am seriously considering not upgrading to H3 and switching teams to K2. That is why I am so actively interested in the K2 threads. I'm about 80-20 in favor of K2 at the moment, pending the rants/raves after release.

H3 crept back in a bit with what was supposedly a VERY solid patch last week. It was a long time coming but I guess it was a great one. Since it would be vastly cheaper to upgrade than to start with K2 it is still on the list.

Does anyone know if the sampl interpolation has been improved ?

SJ_Digriz: That's the first thing I thought when I saw the new interface: "looks like they stole it from Guitar Rig", which is fine by me. Here is a big improvement, for instance; right now, if I want to add FX, I have to mess around with little drop-down menus. Now I'll be able to freely drag+swap effects. And I think something to keep in mind as to why Kontakt users like myself are beside themselves with glee is that we haven't had an update in almost a year, and the 1.5 interface was really buggy and we've been itching to get things fixed. So to us, it's like a totally different beast. To really see the difference, I could only suggest comparing previous feature lists or downloading the 1.5 demo, maybe?
Oh yeah, and I chose Kontakt over HAl - mostly because of the way you have to tab from page to page and the file import/browse features were a royal pain, but now Hal has a browser, etc. If K2 lives up to its potential I think it will still clean up from Hal.

Spaceman Sounds: As a long-time Kontakt forum poster, I can tell you with certainty that no one nows a damn thing beyond the copy on NI's Kontakt 2 page.
