Hi,

Having used ST2 for some time I got back to reading the manual to day (not for the first time but anyway), and a question appeared...

I remember reading something about ST1 only having 4 velocity layers, and I now saw that ST2 have 8 vel. layers. If this is correct, should I import my AKAI sample CDs again? I don't know how many layers the samples I own have, but still - would it be worthwhile to re-import these (assuming that they contain more than 4 vel. layers)?

Finest regards,
Rico

Try it with one or two discs first. The AKAI importing might have been improved anyway, as ST2 is a much more capable engine than ST1.

Try it out.

Thanks for the answer, I'll probably re-import my AKAI discs anyway. But it would be nice to know how good the import will be if I buy AKAI-discs with better samples, if it is worth it at all...

The ones I have are from the Best Service Pro-Samples series which are "light" versions of the real libraries, so I guess the number of velocity layers are reduced to just a few, maybe not even more than one. So it would be nice to know what to expect if I buy the full libraries (in this case Peter Ss' "Classical Choir"), or if I should really get HALion, Kontakt or similar to get the best out of such libraries...

Finest regards,
Rico
