midi messages

i have a problem. i cant get access to the midi information that i want. in cubase sx 2.2, i press reord, i play my riff, i tweak my synth or whatever. i open up the list editor and the part i have just played/tweaked. and there is only note messages, no midi cc's or nrpn mgs's. i want access to my midi cc's and my nrpn msg's so i can program my behringer controller with the correct params, not all synth documentation has the information as you well know. what am i doing wrong?

Check you're not filtering out midi data from Cubase. Can't remember where exactly... probably in Devices somewhere.

Are you sending from your synth's midi out into the PC? Sounds silly, but I say that as some synths don't send things like CCs and nrpns via midi thru.

Does your synth have a Basic channel? Some synths send out controller info on the basic channel only (not necessarily the channel you're recording into). I would have thought it's mostly older synths that still behave that way, but you never know. And it may be called something other than Basic channel - check your synth's manual.

Have you filtered out CCs and nrpns onboard your synth? There'll be some kind of Global page where you can block out things like aftertouch, program channges, CCs etc - it might be checked by default.

Could be other stuff, but those are the ones that spring to mind.
