Problem with Media Manager and Acid Pro 5

Did a search but didn't see an answer. Have looked into the help file, specifically the "Tagging Media" part, and didn't see it either. I have Acid5 Pro. Sooooo, I downloaded and installed the Sony Loop Data Base. I selected Sony Sound Series Loops and Samples and have everything checked on the Media Manager Options page except "shut down database on exit." I pointed the "add files to the media library" to the folder where I keep my Acid loops and did a search. Found lots of loops ... my questions:
When I select certain types of loops, say orchestral or one shot world percussion, it misses a lot of material than I have.... for example, both of those show 0 matches, yet I have Rock-Pop Orchestra (for Orchestral Samples) and Dragon Dance (plus others, for world perc).
When I change the view and go to "Reference Library" I can check a library i have and it says it is unavailable.... would I like to purchase it. Oddly, in the main window some of the loops show up on loop libraries which the Media Manager later tell me are unavailable.
I'll bite.... what am I doing wrong? I have Acid Pro 5 on my C drive and my loop library on the E-drive. I have all of the libraries inside a folder (cleverly) named Acid Loops.... in the search parameters, I have search subfolders, selected. I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but when I transfered the wav files to my harddrive, I left them in their original folders (eg, Dragon Dance is inside a folder called Dragon Dance) and the original folders containing the wav files are intact.
I'm losing it and the help file doesn't seem to be helping. Thanks in advance.

I think ACID is completely screwed up at V5. Rather I will say that ACID was fine when it was doing its limited task what it was meant for and it was doing it great.
But at Sony they tried it to make a Full-timer-Virtual Studio-Sequencer-convertor-Rewire-media manager blah blah...
with buggy istallation and gigantic downloads of MS Framework SQL blah blah..
. host slave neighbour owner etc..and BELIEVE ME..
They screwed up it so well that it is loosing its popularity very fast. At least.. I stopped using it as got tired of those error messages popping up so often..
..and got back to V4 if I need ACID at all.Ironically, in the same machine other apps are working fine.

rjt, sorry i can't offer anything helpful, but as a long-time acidpro user i just have to comment....
raaghav is 100% correct. sony have totally f**ked up acid. it is a mass of bugs, bloated beyond all sense with 'bell & whistle' features while completely neglecting its core job.
no really significant audio editing features have been added since version 3 (which was the last really good release)
my advice is to ditch it and go with a decent host.
acid's days are over.

CORRECTION: Acid's days were over since Live v1 to 3. And with the upcoming Project5 v2, Live & Acid may be screw!Cabinfever wrote:rjt, sorry i can't offer anything helpful, but as a long-time acidpro user i just have to comment....

No huge argument there. I use Sonar as my main DAW. I "upgraded" to 5 because I liked the idea of opening Acid as a rewire slave from within Sonar. I think it does a better job stretching and pitch shifting loops than Sonar and loopwise is easier to use. I am not a fan of the added VSTi etc. etc. etc. support. I do think media manager would be a good idea.... just can't get the #%$^^&%(&**^ thing to work!

I get glitches and crackles when I use ACID as rewire slave in SONAR. ACID5 doesn't like loading FLS as RW slave or VSTi either. Basically, ACID is fantastic at loop mangling and arranging, but sucks as a true 'host' or client, IMO.

glad I tuned into this discussion - I've had NOTHING but problems with Acid 5 - It gets terminal indigestion dealing with the Sonar VST to DXi wrapper - to the point where it wouldn't boot up at all. Somehow or other I have it working (I think) but in the course of installing/reinstalling over and over and over again, I also see that it leaves several files and directories that are not uninstalled with the program. A big TWO thumbs down - Glad to see it's not just my system. I think the SQL and the Media Manager are the big culprits...and its the Media Manager -which defaults to my VST directory which is totally fouling up the works.
