Anyone know if there a fx that can do the same as a "Mu-tron III envelope" (bassguitar) effect?

The mootron sounds nowhere near as good as a real
MuTron...I've tried every envelope follower/filter
plug I could get my hands on.....the only thing that
came close was hardware: ElectroHarmonix Q-Tron.
Cheers.....CL

If you have Reaktor, the Banann Electrique ensemble has a Mu-Tron preset, but I've never tried the original so I can't say how close it is..Sounds pretty cool, though.

This site has some information on the patent and specs.
http://www.mu-tron.org/
Might be useful for designing a similar sounding VST effect.

Mode Zero has some neat .MP3's of old Mu-Tron stuff. Not the envelope unit but still neat to check out.

Just click on any of the gallery pics that have the MP3 by it.

The guy that made the Mutron is working in partnership with Electro Harmonix. He says the Qtron is the closest likeness available to his circuit today. He also states that The Mutron III+ that you pointed out above has nothing in common with the original product other than the name which they apparently own the rights to.TechnoWeeniePas wrote:Or you can get the remake version for $230ishBarf wrote:Thanx, might be another stimilus to programme plugins myselfThey still seem to sell the original pedal, only its $1000

If the original poster was looking for a VST, there's a filter bank here in Effects (down the page) that sounds pretty tastey in the demo mp3.. haven't tried loading it up to see how well it works though.
