There is probably a very obvious explanation for this, but I can't seem to figure it out.
I am unable to get DS-404 to recognize Midi CC's coming from my PhatBoy controller.
I am using a MAC G3/450 Mhz with Cubase 5.1r1. As far as I know, everything is set up correctly (all MIDI Filtering is switched off, controller numbers are logged in correctly according to the MIDI CC list given in DS-404's pdf, etc, etc.).
It can't possibly be my MIDI controller, as my other VSTi's (including all of the other Muon synths) respond to their respective CC's.
Any ideas?

The Phatboy doesn't send hardly any CC's that could control DS404. If you set it to JV2080 mode (mode 4 I think) you could use volume and pan, but only a few of the other controllers would fall into the right range (75 onwards). I don't think any of the other Phatboy modes would yield anything useful - how did you manage to get anything at all working with our other synths??
One thing to double-check would be the MIDI channel that you are sending CC messages on - if you're sending on the different channel to the one the timbre you are editing is set to, you won't see or hear any changes for obvious reasons.

I am able to get the Phatboy to send CC's by using the MIDI Setup -> System menus in Cubase in order to reprogram what the PhatBoy sends (example: Knob One = MIDI CC 71, etc...) This method works on all of the other Muon synths I own.
I'll double check your suggestion, but I don't think I made a mistake initially. Anyone else out there have a similar problem?

Try this. Open the mixer with F4, and use your Phatboy in Mode 4 (JV2080 mode) and send some vol/pan messages. You'll see the pan pot and vol fader move around only for the channel you're sending on.
Then send some notes and look at the MIDI activity indicator in the patch window - that'll tell you which channel DS404 is receiving note data from.
The two should be the same - otherwise change the MIDI channels either in DS404 (above the volume fader) or elsewhere as appropriate.
