Yay! Just discovered something that made my day... Kontakt 2 can time-scale the volume of release samples!

I.e., you can define a time interval for a sample group equalling the average speed of the note-on volume decay. Then, you can use a %-slider to determine how much lower (or higher) the volume of the release sample will get when triggered somewhere in that time period.

Previously, I've had to tweak back piano release sample volumes to make them barely audible, due to the ludicrous effect you otherwise get when releasing the keys after really long, sustained notes.

My Vintaudio Yamaha C7 just got twice as good!

Talking of Kontakt 2, I just tried authorizing the Komplete 2 update to Kontakt 2, There seems to be big trouble on their site, it did not function at all, very unusual

Hmm, well, the snail-like speed over there lately suggests that the new fancy site might be under a lot of strain... I registered K2 this wednesday without problems, but it was slow...

What it did when I was authorizing, was to say that my kontakt, was some Intakt Mac OS version, but it is not, it is Kontakt 2 update Komplete2 Windows, it also looked like it was allready Authorized 1. of April, but I have first received it later, and it has not been authorized, Are They trying to april fool me

, But seriously it was written in the battery 2 update that the registration tool should be updated first, before authorizing, so maybe that could be the reason. I will see if I can find it.

No luck, there does not seem to be a Kontakt Registration tool update, so what now

Pethu, that K2 you registrated, was that an update from Komplete 2, I mean did you use the authorization code you received when getting Komplete2 or one received later ? it says in the komplete manual that the authorization code is used for all plugins in the collection, but I do not dare use it, becaused NI sent a new serial for Kontakt 2, and when the serial No is not the same, the Athorization number can not be the same right ?

Yes it was a Komplete 2 update, and I used the new serial number sent by e-mail a couple of days earlier - the K2 is a new product, so the Komplete 2 number will not work.

(In fact, the new Kontakt 2 serial number should have appeared on your on-line NI products list at about the same time they shipped the update to you, before you even received the product or tried to register.)

It is really weird how can NI think i authorized Kontakt 2, 1. of april when it shipped 8. of april.

I had this problem yesterday. They also just redesigned their entire website, and there have been problems with the Forums and User Libraries and everything. Not surprising that with everybody getting Kontakt 2 right now there are problems.

Anyway, when I had my trouble yesterday I contacted Tech Support via the form for Registration/Authorization problems. Since my Kontakt 2 was part of Komplete Care (which I had just registered), they were able to solve the problem for me within 24 hours. Actually, they did the website authorization for me, and emailed me the authorization number to paste in to the Registration tool.

If you're having trouble, let them know.

Wow 24 Hours, I actually did write to them yesterday but nothing have happened yet. So I guess I will have to wait another day, as I think they are not going to respond now, at this hour.

But of course I have the possibility working with it a while, untill I get it registrated or the 30 days are over which fingers crossed wont happen.

They probably won't get back until at least the next business day.

Also, I used the form they have on their website for people who are having registration/authentication problems. If you sent them email rather than using the form, it may take them longer to return your message.

But they've always gotten back to me within 48 hours, even when I've sent email. And I had problems receiving my Absynth 3/Battery 2 updates to Komplete; and then I had a problem authenticating Battery 2 because they forgot to send the serial #. So I have a bit of experience with the folks at NI.
