NI Kontakt 2 Registration Woes

So I picked up the Kontakt 2 update today from my local Guitar Center and installed everything ok but when I go to register it I get this message:

Update Not Authorized
In order to authorize this upgrade/update version, you must first register the product you would like to upgrade/update from.

I am an owner of Komplete 2 and have never had any problems with other upgrades (e.g. Absynth 3). I put in a support request with NI but now I won't be able to dl the 2.01 update until I can get this straighted out.

Just curious to see if anybody else had or is having this type of problem.

I thought it would authorize independently of Komplete - saying that I have Komplete V1 and when I up-dated to Absynth V3 and Battery V2 these both installed as individual programs independent of Komplete and they both authorized fine.

I have not installed Kontakt V2 yet, perhaps with Komplete V2 NI have decided to tie everything together :roll: .

I was pissed that I could not get the up-date without registering K2 - I mean they know I bought the bloody thing from their shop!

I went throught the same thing with Absytnth 3 and had no problem. I think its probally something to do with my system id or something even though I didn't change anything. I have 10 products registered with them and this is the first time I've ever had a problem :(

There's always glitchy stuff on the NI website.

I had this problem yesterday. But I filled out the form for registration/authorization problems, including my serial # and explaining that my previous version of Kontakt was part of Komplete. (My Kontakt 2, in fact, was part of Komplete Care, which I had just registered with no problem, so I knew they had my Komplete Care registration in their database).

This morning I had an email from Tech Support in Berlin telling me that they had authorized Kontakt 2 for me on the website. The email also gave me the authorization number to paste in to the Registration Tool. Worked like a charm.

So what I would say is... Just contact them and let them know about it. They got back to me within 24 hours, which I know is almost unheard of with NI, but it really happened!

I've had a lot of difficulties with receiving and authorizing the Komplete updates (and now Komplete Care). But I've gotten all of them solved by contacting the folks in Berlin. They've always gotten back to me, usually within 48 hours.

I know it's a hassle. But my experience has been that they do want you to receive and be able to use your products.

thanks for the info, I did send them an email with the serial number and all, and I know they will get basck to me. :) It's just a matter of "this happened to me"
