Sudden CPU problems in FLStudio

in the last 3 days or so, FL has been taking up 5 - 10 times the cpu that it used to. Now when I start it up with no open channels, the FLStudio CPU gauge says about 15%, and windows says the program is taking 80% - 100% CPU.
What should I check/do?

Wow that's a weird one. Can you think of anything you did in the last three days-install/uninstall programs or hardware? Did you check to see if there are any effects loaded in the mixer that might be hidden and taking up resources? Gotta go to bed right now but good luck. I hope you find the solution.

is it FL or your machine? That's what happened to me (don't you have an older pc?). My laptop slowed down so fruity was useless (openeing Vsampler and B$ would take twenty minutes) as was AA. AA would not even play 10 seconds of one track without freezing....it was a system over stuffed with adware and spyware, once I had that fixed it been smooth sailing...Chase wrote:in the last 3 days or so, FL has been taking up 5 - 10 times the cpu that it used to. I don't think it's any new plugs. AA is loading and functioning as perfectly as it always does.
I downloaded ad-aware and ran it, killed off some major problems - helped a bit.
I deleted cookies and all off-line files and dropped my temp internet folder to use 30MB (it was set freakishly high for some reason) - helped a lot, and i gained 2 GB of HD space (!).
I'm checking for registry problems with Reg mechanic and Norton, and it looks like it is just my PC.
f**king spyware/adware/potential viruses are really pissing me off.
Thanks for the help guys. It looks like my problem is just the lack of some well-needed windows maintenace.

Whoa, some paranoid parents you have!
To get rid of Spyware and trash like that forever, stop using Internet Explorer and download Firefox instead: http://www.getfirefox.com after installing, now get SpywareBlaster from http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/ .
This combo is killer, no crap will get in, not a single trackingcookie! I don't run AdAware anymore, there's never anything new...
Of course, any crap already in your computer won't go away, but after you've cleaned it, nothing new...

yea I'm using firefox now. It's not as fast as IE on my computer (though I'm yet to tweak it that much), but if it is as safe as everyone says it will be worth it.Programentalist wrote:Whoa, some paranoid parents you have!

As for my parents, yea it sucks that they are freakishly afraid of all things non-mormon, but they bought my computer (and most of my software) in the first place, so it's all good.
