I'm running a MAC dualG4. hosted via DP4.5(MAS).
Thinking of geting ST2L, so.......
what is the difference between the 2? Just the library size? Does 2L have the stretch capabilities/ whats missing?

So the GUI bug is in 2.0.8 right, are people good with 2.0.6?
:help:

Oops, I thought this was going to be like "Richard Nixon vs. Predator"... my bad.

AFAIK the only diff is the library size. L is large, XL is mongo.

Predator is my vote  :D

Thanks Meffy. Hows the importing capabilities-problems?

Can't tell you, because I haven't really tried. What came with it is so good, and so much, that I keep putting off importing my old Akai downloads. :-D

Ok Meffy, thanks!!

Can anyone comment on the GUI bug? the knobs are wigging out and zero's out???

Does ST2L import aiff or wav decently?

also, are there any pitched percussion on the SL library?Or do need to get add ons?

Please :help: this will make my decision.

The Sampletank engine for L and XL are exactly the same. The only difference is the sound sets. Sampletank 2.1 will be out soon, which will also include a huge sound upgrade. If you purchase XL now, you will get the sound upgrade for free. If you purchase L, you will need to purchase the sound upgrade if you want it. Squids has said the price of the sound upgrade will be resonable, but the improved 2.1 engine will be free to all Sampletank full engine users.

IMHO, it's worth getting XL right away.

Sampletank imports wav or aif files nicely. The mapping features are a bit limited, so if you want to create multi layered sounds that require a lot of velocity layering etc, it is not the ultimate "sampler". I've been able to make some sound effect samples, with it though. It's certainly a usable feature. Also, I've imported some Akai samples into Sampletank, and it works great!

I can't comment on the GUI problem you're describing, as I haven't had a bit of trouble with Sampletank here.

I'm not sure if L has pitched percussion, but XL definately does. HTH

HG, thank you for your input!! I am aware of 2.1 coming soon. :D

Good to hear aif, wav importing will be workable.

The GUI problem seems to be MAC user related, but 2.0.6? seems to work out .

Time to get the plastic out :D

Importing wave is pretty straight forward. ST2 will auto dectect the note of the sample or you can manually enter it. You can also add the note (C3 D5 etc.) to the end of the file name at it will map it exactly. For example say to had 8 samples you wanted to map across the keyboard you would name them:
sample1 c1.wav (spans to the next mapped note)
sample2 c2.wav
sample3 c3.wav
sample4 c4.wav
etc.

With layers you can take it a step futher and the velocity to the name of the sample:
sample1 c1 v64.wav (will play at 0-64)
sample2 c2 v64.wav (will play at 65-127)
sample1 c1 v127.wav
sample2 c2 v127.wav

I think you can have up 8 layers. I think that's about as easy as it gets.
