what do u usually do when workin on a project in order to do not load your cpu?
I assume many people will say sample tracks 1 by 1
I use Cubase SX 2.2 and kinda new to it, how do u export samples from it so that waves start with 0db and ends with 0 db without any further editing and without clicks?
Edit: ohh and when u export samples do u process (eq, compress, effects) it before u export it or u process it after when importing wave file into multitrack?

Do not add reverb delay or that kind of processing until the final mix.
If you want your export audios to be at 0db ok, use the normalize function after you have imported the tracks.
If you have lots of clicks and noise in your exports, do a defrag of your HD even if the system says it’s not necessary...
You could do some compression on stuff before mix but most kind of processing would probably be more accurate if you do that in the mix, it’s relative to all components of your song, like the amount of reverb, delay and EQ'ing on individual tracks.

I use Sonar to record samples for sets. And I process all my samples using SoundForge. Like Lars I leave all the processing using effects for after because the sample sets have a larger useable range if dry and in context. But I trim and crop each sample carefully adjust for DC offset. I also pay carefull attension to each notes drop in level and try to normalize to simulate the natural decay in level on acoustic instruments.
