Just got Rob Thomas' new album this past weekend and I am really impressed with the new(ish) format used. CD on one side/DVD on the other.

The DVD side has some great video footage of work in the studio with John Mayer as they work on some guitar parts. That side also has the enhanced audio :love: ...makes me want to go out and get me a surround system.

I got the disk at Costco for under 13 bucks Canadian...great price for this kind of disk....check it out.... :)

Thanks for the great responses guys! I'll be sure to keep those totally witty and irrelevant responses in mind when I have nothing of value to say! :lol: :P

Anyway, despite what you think of the style of music, the format is what I was on about....and the creative process they used in the studio...it is pretty cool, really....

sounds like he's trying to pull off some shocking latino crap, complete with that cypress hill 'horse neigh' sound at the start of every few bars

matchbox 20 sucks but it's still 100x better than his solo shit!

:roll: OK, some more excellent feedback Churchy....good one. Have you considered using enhanced audio on your next release?...I mean you wouldn't want to be compared to Rob Thomas or anything but 5.1 is kind of a cool way to record,no?

Rob is that you!?!?!? :P Hey man, if you like the album then great- horses for courses or summat. I was seriously wanting to know if it was better than matchbox 20, since I really dont care for them too much. I am willing to give it a try if its worth while...

No, it's not Rob... :)
Haven't really formed an opinion about the album yet but I'm always intrigued by writer/performers who are making it in the top 40....not many left. Hey, people can say what you want about Rob Thomas but my guess is most people browsing this forum would give their left nut to be in his shoes right now.

Production is excellent IMHO and although there are some things that don't sit well with me creatively, over-all, for 10 bucks US I feel it was a good purchase. There is also a song he recorded with video in one take in the studio..just him and piano that cofirmed to me that this guy has talent...love his music or hate it.

Enhanced audio, some video footage of work in the studio and then the regular cd audio had me thinking that if more artists did this, there would be less file sharing....for the price I paid for this disk, it wouldn't be even worth my while hunting around for it on the internet. :shrug: :)

Anyway, just my thoughts....

he's definitely riding off the success of that song he did with Santana. if i'm correct i think he tried to do that too with matchbox 20.

anyway, my friend has the disc so i'll check it out the dual format thingy. that's very interesting.
