There's been blood spilled at the acid forum. for some time sony has been deleting posts that are too critical of acid (i've seen them disappear). now they have banned a one-time beta tester who has been listing some of the serious flaws in the software. i believe he was specifically banned for pointing out that the recent release of vegas contains no audio enhancements at all besides ported vsti effects from acid.

its pathetic to see the sony corporates pretend to release great new versions of these apps whereas they contain virtually no useful enhancements & lots of bugs. these greedy corporates make native instruments looks like a benevolent fairy godmother...

i own all the sony suite but have stopped updating. sony are mangling those apps and playing fascist cop on their forums to stop criticism.

bad, bad, bad :(

That's a real shame and just when I was getting to like acid, the acid has been spilt !!

Exactly the reason I won't be upgrading from v.4...

if I'd known how buggy and unstable Pro 5 is, I would not have upgraded blindly. Alas....

Sony made a deal with the US military: they're gonna give the GI's some Acid!

I could have told you Sony were shite before you even started using their miserable products. They're the only company I have ever embargoed...I don't even buy their cassette tapes anymore.

Actually, banning from their forums (fora?) seems mild from them. I would have expected them to revoke licenses and maybe "send the boys round" to convince the detractors of what truly splendid products they make. :hihi:

Sooner you dump anything Sony, the more likely you'll get product support.

Its par for the course to have a sonic foundry /sony product be buggy as hell until at least the "C" revsion...

Post

I used to love Acid until Sony bought out Sonic Foundry.

I recently tried the Acid 5 demo. I hate the way it handles plugins and the interface seems pretty stupid. I used the like Acid Pro 2 back in the day, but it seems like the app hasn't advance much since then workflow wise.

Sony is the worst piece-o-shyte corporation on the planet. It's a board room full of old men who are absolutely convinced that they "know" what's best for the world. Their mentality is totally to build boxes, the guts of which can be replaced with cheap parts made in China. They STILL have no clue what software is :hihi: Friggin stupid cretins.

Don't forget Sound Forge 8! That P.O.S. just fried up my system; not only does it take forever for SF8 to load, scan/open plug-ins and even close wave windows; it seems to have buggered something in SF 7! SF7 freezes up in the plug-in preview...great, I got a deadling coming and I need to use SF Noise Reduction...should've just stuck with 7.0, there's virtually no difference anyway. And I think ACID has been declining since v3.0 - that was the best one. All this VSTi support...no thanks...

Sony... grr... they didn't learn their lesson from Betamax, and insisted on handling their MiniDiscs with proprietary format crap and a real hassle transferring/managing songs. The only software available was/is complete shite, and the so-called implementation with MusicMatch and iTunes is dodgy at best.

At the time I got my MD, it had far greater battery life than MP3, and that's what I needed most. However, now that MP3 players have caught up, it's time to switch over.

Anyone need an MD with mic input? ;)
