Hi, I want to create some crowd shouting a name (similar to Gladiator when they scream Maximus, Maximus Maximus) How can I do that or some vst effect ?

If you have any ideas let me know

Thanks

record yourself chanting a couple of times and layer it to get a "crowd" effect.

For a more authentic effect, have yourself acclaimed the Champion of Rome.

Have a look at CloneEnsemble....

'Choir Boy' may help here. You can pitch shift multiple copies (up to 3 additional) of a stereo input and generate interesting effects. Do this a few times with a spoken/shouted voice and you'll get a crowd.

Invite some friends over, and let them shout it.

The "Clone" solutions fails: you'll recognise its the same voice doubled a hundred times.
My MusicCalc is temporary offline.

I read an interesting article a while ago about using a vocoder. Feed your voice as the modulator (as usual), but feed a generic crowd/applause sound as the carrier (instead of a synth).

I haven't gotten it to work yet though. :(

I've used clone ensemble to create convincing male choirs.

It will be in a song I will release shortly (within 2 weeks.)

I think if you layer yourself and some friends shouting or chanting you can get something close.

For crowd sound in 'Lord of the Rings' they recorded the crowd at stadium cricket game during half time!

I remember a similar post a few months back. The most reasonable advice I saw was to go to a bar, buy a round for everyone, and have them act as a crowd for you. Layer a couple takes of that, and you're good to go!

That could be very expensive in my local...

Well, there's also the possibility that people will be willing (read: drunk) enough to do it for free, if you happen to pick the right time and place.
