is there such a thing as an RTAS plug-in for surround panning? I'd like to circument the limitation of Pro Tools LE not doing surround pannin by using a plug in that gives me the surround "meatball" for surround panning. Anyone ever heard of this? Willing to develop one?

Aren't there working VST-Rtas wrappers? In that case I'm sure there's some VST around somewhere...

No point of a suround panner in a non-surround host. Unless you are talking about pseudo 3d or prologic stuff.bodyelectrik wrote:is there such a thing as an RTAS plug-in for surround panning? Surely Protools LE supports as many outs (virtual channel -> soundcard physical) as you want? So a surroundpanner in the form of a multiout RTAS (or maybe VST) could certainly be used, couldn't it? I mean you could just route each channel in the surroundpanner to the proper speaker in your system...

yes theoretically this is true, but would digi squash this idea for a plug in if they knew that LE users would get surround capabilies. They carefully manage their partner program. i'm hoping someone knows how to get around this if so.

I think there are VSTs that do this actually, although none pop up in my head... so if you get a VST->RTAS wrapper it should be doable.

These guys seem to have something in development;

I think it needs Pluggo (runtime?) to work though.
